Agreed...Wells Fargo stinks. I have them too and was conned into a higher interest rate and combo of some debt and now cant get out of it. they told me if i wanted help, dont pay and we'll help you. One lady told me "you're the idiot paying the high interest rate, so don't pay it and then we can help you!". Great business practice there. BBB should shut these idiots down. i hope you get your refi and i hope the gov't lets the programs go beyond fanny and freddy so i can get help too. good luck.

This H.A.R.P. thing is a BIG JOKE! My husband & I have qualified for this since it began. I am to the point of aggrevation! We have NEVER! been late or missed a single morgage payment in 9yrs. We have taken every honest step to get every piece of information to the underwriter we get responses that we are closing this day & that day (dragging on) they need this, they neeed that. We will close this day again. We are only getting the run around, thats it. If we were not paying our mortgage, late all the time (as I mentioed we have never been late) or bankrupt I am sure it would get taken care of in a snap. We WANT TO PAY our mortgage! We are just asking for a lower interest rate. We qualify for this program & would like to be apart of it. Wells Fargo (our Mortgage holder) should be turned in to the Better Business Bureu due to their lack of sorry business. I said it!

I bought my home when I was working. I am not disabled on a fixed income. My lender, Chase Home Finance, granted me a loan modification when I went in default. They lowered my interest rate to 4% for 2 years. What I didnt know is that my term went from 30 yr to 44 yr. They wont grant me another modification because my daughters name is also on the account. She does not live with me or contribute in any way. She is greatly in debt also. This makes me ineligible for Making Homes Affordable program. Is there any help for someone like me?

Nicole and Paul,
Even though you're both in a conventional loan, it could still possibly be owned by Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae and you wouldn't know it until you looked it up. If you google Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae Loan Lookup, you will find a place to enter in your information to see if your loan is owned by either of them.

Why does HARP 2.0 not apply to 2nd mortgages on a home that is underwater?

If a unit appraised at $465K prior to the housing bubble now valued at <$200K, with a combined outstanding mortgage of $334K, why can't a mtge company under HARP blend the two rates on the $334K at a reasonable rate and restructure the two loans into one. Under this formula the financier does not lose anything, in fact they gain. Help us understand the "illogic", aside from the willingness to ignore those who continue to pay on what they now deem as undervalued property?

Our Fannie Mae loan secured in Dec. 2007 is with Bank of America and we are about $12K underwater. I contacted them to get a modification and was told BOA cannot help us because we are current with our mortgage payments. I was advised that unless we default there is nothing they can do. They left me a voice mail message saying this just this AM so I would say the supposedly new rules are not in effect yet.

I had the same question as Paul Kaminer, posted 11/4/2011, but in addition to his question, no where on my loan docs does it say who my loan is backed by, My mortgage is with CitiMortgage, how do I find out the company that "backed my loan?"
